چکیده

This paper investigates the problem of wavelength assignment in dynamic wavelength reusable multicarrier distributed (WRMD) wavelength-divisionmultiplexing (WDM) networks. In WRMD network lightpath between source and destination edge nodes (ENs) are established by using multi-carrier light source (MCLS). An MCLS is a communication light source device that can generate multiple optical carriers at the same time with accuracy. Optical carrier regeneration reduces the number of wavelengths used for lightpath establishment, the allowable number of carrier regeneration per wavelength must be limited because the quality of the regenerated after carrier regeneration. This paper formulates the wavelength assignment problem, minimizing the number of wavelengths needed to establish all request lightpaths, as the graph coloring problem numerical results indicate that our developed algorithm performs well in our test cases. It is observed that one and two carrier regeneration per wavelengths for lightpath establishment by approximately 30% to 40% respectively, compared to that without carrier regeneration.

A Novel Protection Guaranteed, Quality of Transmission Aware Routing and Wavelength Assignment Algorithm for All-optical Networks

Transparent All Optical Networks carry huge traffic and any link failure can cause the loss of gigabits of data; hence protection and its guarantee becomes necessary at the time of failure. Many protection schemes were presented in the literature, but none of them speaks about protection guarantee. Also, in all optical networks, due to absence of  regeneration capabilities, the physical layer i...

Analysis of Wavelength-Routed Optical Burst-Switched Network Performance

This paper studies a novel scalable network architecture combining optical burst switching (OBS) with dynamic wavelength allocation to guarantee quality of service (QoS). All processing and buffering functions are concentrated at the network edge and bursts are assigned to fast tuneable lasers and routed over a bufferless optical transport core using dynamic wavelength assignment. Different bur...

Optical Fast Circuit Switching Networks Employing Dynamic Waveband Tunnel

We propose a novel dynamic hierarchical optical path network architecture that achieves efficient optical fast circuit switching. In order to complete wavelength path setup/teardown efficiently, the proposed network adaptively manages waveband paths and bundles of optical paths, which provide virtual mesh connectivity between node pairs for wavelength paths. Numerical experiments show that oper...

Dynamic Routing and Wavelength Assignment with Power Consideration in WDM Networks

One of the most important technical problems in optical WDM network is the dynamic routing and wavelength assignment (dynamic RWA) problem, which is to set up lightpaths and assign wavelengths dynamically in order to establish a channel between optical source and destination nodes. Previous studies have solved many variations of the dynamic RWA problem under the assumption of ideal conditions r...
